Folarin Sosan is the inventor of Package-Park.
Folarin received a Bachelors degree in mechanical Engineering
from the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, in
1986. After graduation, Folarin found employment in the Defense
industry. Prior to this he operated a part-time business
retailing crafts and artwork on weekends.
The idea for Package-Park came to him while he was operating his
part-time business. He would come home to find that carriers had
tried to deliver merchandise to him while he was at work. They
would leave notices that another delivery attempt would be made
the next day – while he would be at work again.
Folarin realized the need for a receptacle that could receive
large packages in his absence, and was simple to use so that it
could be understood by any package carrier that saw it for the
first time. Since he lived in an apartment building at the time,
the receptacle had to be deployable from any door without
modifications to the door or walls. The receptacle also had to
be inexpensive. The resulting elegant solution is the invention
that he named Package-Park.
Package-Park is one of several inventions that Folarin has
invented, and is the second that he has patented. Folarin lives
in Burtonsville, Maryland.
